Revs Shook By Quakes

The New England Revolution lost their third straight game falling 4-0 to the last place San Jose Earthquakes Saturday night, in a game starting goalkeeper Matt Reis left due to injury.

Averaging just .75 goals per game entering the match, the Earthquakes put up their best offensive performance of the year and matched the Revs worst loss of the season. The loss, combined with Columbus' earlier 2-1 victory over Dallas means the Crew move into first place, one point ahead of the Revs.

Without Shalrie Joseph (suspension) and Michael Parkhurst, who was given time to rest after the Olympics, the Revs defense was made up of Chris Tierney and Chris Albright on the outside with Jeff Larentowicz and Jay Heaps in the center. Pat Phelan stepped into Joseph's spot in the center of the midfield. The team was also missing Kenny Mansally and Kheli Dube due to injury.
