Defending US Open Cup Champion Revs to return to New Britain, Connecticut for third round
The New England Revolution have today announced they will host their first match of the 2008 US Open Cup in New Britain, Connecticut at Veterans Stadium. The match will take place on July 1st against either the Richmond Kickers or Western Mass Pioneers depending on who wins when the two face off in the second round on June 24th.
The Revs, who won last year's edition of the Open Cup, enter the tournament in the third round. The game is set to kick off at 7PM. New Britain was the site last year where the Revs played their semifinal match against the Carolina Railhawks and won 2-1 to advance to the final.

And the reason why they're playing in New Britain instead of Gillette is...?
Oh wait, that's right...don't wanna have to pay those filthy rich Team Ops and concession workers even more money. Greedy bastards! That'll learn 'em! lol
Sean, what's the press box situation like over in NB? Is there even one there?
The press box is similar to what you might see at some high school football stadiums. It's above the stands near midfield and pretty small, though there are actually two floors. I didn't get there until about 10 minutes into the first half last time and there was only one seat left. I think I couldn't quite see one of the goals from where I was sitting, but I may be confusing that part with Rochester (or I might have had the same problem at both).
